Uruguay Videos: Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations"
Watching travel videos is a great way to get a feel for the Uruguayan culture and lifestyle before visiting or moving here. Anthony Bourdain, from the Travel Channel Show “No Reservations,” did an episode on Uruguay in July 2008.
The storyline follows that Anthony has family history in Uruguay, so he and his brother Chris set off on a journey to learn more about their family’s ties to the little-known South American country. (We’ll let you watch the videos to see what they uncover).
Along that journey, they discover the many wonderful things that Uruguay has to offer. Anthony and Chris visit the famous Mercado Del Puerto (Port Market) to enjoy the local Parrilla (barbeque). We’ve eaten at this same restaurant (Estancia Del Puerto) and it’s just as good as it looks on the episode.
He also spends time with a family who relocated from Canada to live on a Uruguayan farm, visits the beautiful beaches of Punta Del Este and ventures to a small beach village with no electricity.
